At first I thought the craze with calling Vincent a vampire was just for fun because sure, he does look good as one in fanart and fanfiction. Then it got a little out of hand, to the point where fans began to believe that he actually was one in the game. Perhaps I'm blind to the truth, but I really don't think this is even remotely possible. Yes, many would like to conclude that Valentine's a vampire because he was sleeping in a coffin. I guess one could say that, but I always thought he was put in the basement by Hojo out of cruelty, rather than because Vincent felt like a vampire and decided to go sleep in a random coffin. I think it makes a lot more sense in the storyline, as well. Besides, what good will that argument do if you have none of the most important aspects of a vampire available as proof? I don't see any fangs and I don't believe they're hidden behind his cape collar. I have yet to see him brutally attack Cloud and bite his neck. In fact, I'm not seeing him get hungry for blood at all. Vincent also sleeps at night, and is awake during the day. He doesn't run away yelping because the pixelized sun is seering his vampiric flesh either. Really, I'm not seeing the possibility at all here. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind the portrayal of Vincent as a vampire. Actually, I think it's cute. However, the real (in the game, that is) Vincent Valentine couldn't have been one, unless somewhere along the line Jenova gained the ability to transform normal human beings into fictional creatures of the night. But hey, believe whatever you'd like. Just making another pointless opinion in the FF7 world. "BACK" |
