Things Clarified
Since the beginning, fans have been intrigued by Vincent and his connections with Lucrecia, Shin-Ra, Hojo and Gast. Yet for being such an integral part of the story, FF7 revealed very little about him. Because of this, fans have speculated and come up with theories of their own throughout the years.
With the Compilation, however, many of the mysteries surrounding Vincent are coming to an end. In this section, I hope to clarify important Square-Enix approved facts about Vincent. If you should see any errors, please drop me a line so that I can correct them.
Important Years
In the history section, I have provided both official and estimated dates. Here is a list of all of the official dates and where you can find more information on them.
October 13
Vincent's birthday. This is common knowledge and can be found in virtually every Final Fantasy VII game manual and guide book.
25 ~ 30 Years Ago, 23 Years Ago
The Jenova Project begins; Vincent falls in love with Lucrecia and watches as she submits herself to the Project. These dates are approxomite and have been provided in the book, FF7 Ultimania Omega. Please see this site for a translation.
December 19, Era 0006
A date provided in Chapter 19 of Before Crisis. This is when Veld accidentally awakens Vincent. The complete BC story outline and timeline is currently being worked on by AdventChildren.net forum memebers.
December 9, Era 0007
FF7 begins. This is one of the seven dates provided in a movie timeline, which was originally included in an FF7 Demo CD and later added in FF7 International. This timeline has been translated and added to by Sheila and Jennifer. Their translations can be found at Jennifer's Tifa shrine, Loveless.
What is unusual about the timeline is that it begins with normal years (ex: 1959), but as soon as it reaches what should be the 2000s, the dates change to numbers like '0007'.
Relationship With Lucrecia and Sephiroth
A relationships web in the book Final Fantasy VII Ultimania Omega clearly labels Lucrecia and Hojo as husband and wife with Sephiroth as their son. A pink arrow pointing to Lucrecia from below is coming from Vincent and reads "unattainable love".
Death and Rebirth (Compliments of Hojo)
Hojo shot and killed Vincent in the Shin-Ra mansion, a little later brought him back to life, and finally put him to sleep in the crypt. Hojo's experiments also ceased Vincent's aging. Below are excerpts from official sources that state so.
Ehrgeiz Manual
"After being killed by someone within the Shinra Mansion, Vincent underwent anatomic reconstruction, and was brought back to life."
Hojo's Letter
"I scientifically altered him and put him to sleep in the basement."
Advent Children Profile
"In the past his body was augmented by Shin-Ra and he gained the power to transform into an ageless monster, a burden he must carry in life."
