I don't consider this to be a major relationship game wise, but due to a polite request from a fan of the two, I decided to give the love aspect a fairer analysis. :) One of the only times the two interact is when Yuffie steals the group's materia, and that doesn't exactly get the greatest reaction from Vincent. Pre theft, he was immediately suspicious of her unnatural behavior and quickly assumes that it was she who ordered in the Shin-Ra guards when they suddenly arrived on the scene. Vincent's no-nonsense attitude causes Yuffie to nervously reveal that she wasn't responsible for them, but that she had something else planned. After a battle and a disappearing act from Yuffie, Vincent realizes that she stole their materia and finds the act annoying and "inexcusable". He believes that she was never truly interested in helping them. Of course, after they catch up with Yuffie and reclaim their stolen goods, Vincent harbors no ill feelings towards her and doesn't seem to mind too much that she rejoins the group after that. Similarly, Yuffie finds Vincent annoying and overly serious at times, but she also mentions upon first meeting him that even she felt bad about his having nightmares. So really, it's probably a tremendous age gap and a slight lack of emotional maturity that kept these two on edge. Perhaps in Advent Children, where Yuffie will be a little older and wiser, they'll get along better. Love Yuffie is outgoing, lively, and says whatever's on her mind. Since Vincent finds Cid funny, he could just as easily find humor in the things Yuffie says and in that they could be a cute pair. She's not one to dwell on past disappointments, so she could keep Vincent's mind off of his just by being her sprightly self.
