Indirectly, Cloud gave Vincent his life back. True, anyone could've woken up Vincent, but would they have been nonjudmental enough to be able to convince him to leave the mansion? Vincent reveals the most about himself to Cloud, which is saying quite a bit right there. Both seem to known what makes the other tick. When Vincent is facing up to his past, Cloud knows to stay back and let him attack the situation in his own particular way. Similarly, when Cloud was having issues with who he was, Vincent helped when he was needed, but he knew it was best to let Cloud face his problems alone. The word "partner" really comes to mind with these two. Though not as close as Cloud and Zack were, they generally understand each other and work well together. In the strangest way, they almost remind me of Sephiroth and Zack. Cloud and Vincent treat each other as equals, but it seems Cloud is slightly intimidated by Vincent's "cool" nature and Cloud is just generally goofier. From what I can tell from Advent Children trailers, their relationship is getting closer, but there is that slight distance between the two. Without a doubt, it seems Vincent will be the "male mentor" who will understand Cloud's issues, if that makes any sense at all. I'm envisioning it in the way Auron is to Tidus (FFX) except a tad more leveled out. Love They're very similar in how they deal with relationships. Neither is an initiator physically or otherwise, so in that sense, they could both be understanding and comfortable around each other. However, they would never be able to overcome their emotional instabilities because both insist on facing their problems alone. They could probably relate and mope together, but both need someone strong enough to help them recover, or else they'll be stuck in their ruts forever. Then again, maybe that's how they'd both rather have it. If you want a good yaoi pairing for Cloud, I think you'd have more fun putting him with Zack or Sephiroth than with Vincent.
