R E L A T I O N S H I P S :   C I D   H I G H W I N D

Cid's feisty, go-get-em attitude is amusing to Vincent, to say the least. Beyond that, Vincent admires Cid's passion and honest to goodness heart of gold.

What's unusual about this relationship to me is that Cid is the first character that Vincent willingly initiated conversation with, aside from Cloud. It may have something to do with Cid's being closest to his age, but I also believe that it's because he feels like he could get along with Cid. They are opposites indeed, but they also have similar values when you think about it. Cid is a dreamer, but he gave up those dreams to save the life of Shera, who he stubbornly won't admit to loving. Vincent also believes in giving up what you want if it means happiness for others. They just go about it differently, and that's sort of where they'd get along; there's common ground, but they're both different enough to have an interesting friendship.

I was looking at screenshots of Shera and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Perhaps Vincent also feels a connection to Cid because their pasts were so oddly similar. Both worked for Shin-Ra, both fell for female scientists with long brown hair, and both gave up or lost something in the process. Maybe in Cid and Shera, Vincent sees himself and Lucrecia and what they might have been.

Or maybe I'm just looking way too deep into these things.

Love
This could work very nicely. Cid needs someone more realistic to keep him grounded, but at the same time, they can't take his little outbursts seriously. Vincent easily fits this description; he finds Cids antics humorous, and at the same time, he's more meditative and level headed. Although, I don't know if Vincent would have as much patience with Cid as Shera does.
