Although I do like Aeris quite a bit, I'm fully aware that her character isn't the angelic creature that many people like to make it out to be. She can be painfully honest sometimes, especially with Vincent. Aeris and Vincent don't quite see eye to eye due to their almost opposite personalities. Aeris finds Vincent's methods of self-punishment weird and probably pointless, as she herself is the type of person who would try to move on and make the best of things. On the other hand, Vincent dislikes the way Aeris downplays situations or hides the truth. Take the Temple of the Ancients scene, for example. Aeris assures Cloud that there's nothing to worry about and then tries to get Vincent to play along by asking "Right?" Vincent knows that something's up and rather than helping to soften the situation, he crosses his arms and glares. Personality differences aside, both Aeris and Vincent can see the good in one another. After Aeris' death, Vincent tells the group that they have to strengthen the hope she gave them. I'm sure that she would have good things to say of Vincent in return had time only permitted it. Love If this were to ever work, it would be very Squall and Rinoa--push comes love. Aeris is optimistic and outgoing where Vincent is pessimistic and introverted. This along with her emotional strength could help Vincent overcome all of his past hurt. However, Aeris is also curious and secretive, which are qualities I could see driving the more serious Vincent up a wall more so than piquing his interest. Physically, they make a lovely couple, and Aeris might even remind Vincent of Lucrecia somewhat with her long brown hair and luminescent skin. Of course, Vincent liking Aeris for looking like the love of his life would probably be a bad idea, but hey, it's a thought.
